CRDP Acting President, Mr. George Nohra, visited the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Aoun, at the Presidential Palace in Baabda. Mr. Nohra briefed General Aoun on the tasks that CRDP is carrying out at this critical period that the country is going through, as well as the implications of the spread of Corona virus on the educational system.
General Aoun was informed on the administrative and everyday life demands of CRDP employees and staff, and their expectations that he would thoughtfully support a springboard for a solution.
During the meeting, Mr. Nohra expressed his pride and honor to encounter the President, conveying greetings and appreciation from CRDP employees, and assuring President Aoun that “ the employees belong to his school of thought -the school of morals, heroism and vigor – which they will never abandon as it is the salvation for Lebanon” . Mr. Nohra pointed out that “the past records of the educators and workers across the years is a witness of their achievements in the institution whereby they serve the country."
Mr.Nohra displayed to President Aoun "CRDP’s achievements during the period of one and a half months starting from the day he was assigned as CRDP President. Besides, Mr. Nohra informed President Aoun of the current and future projects, in addition to presenting to him a number of the rightful demands of CRDP's staff.”
Mr. Nohra also listed the team’s achievements at CRDP. The most notable ones are: “ finalizing reducing the curriculum, the core topics and objectives, CRDP ebooks, and completing a remote learning training plan for teachers ; a plan whose implementation will start from Monday, 26/10/2020.
In the context of coordination between CRDP and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), this has resulted in: beginning remote training starting from today, launching the training management system (TMS) soon, and networking MEHE’s platform with CRDP’s platform shortly.
Regarding the current activities, Mr. Nohra informed President Aoun that they are as follows : " aligning free digital resources with the contents of various subject matters across the different stages and cycles of education, developing digital resources for the contents of various subject matters - from Grade One to Grade Six of Basic Education, and reconsidering the competencies in various subject matters ."
Mr. Nohra further explained the plans for the next stage. They include: "a preliminary roadmap for curricula development - along with its requirements and the initiation of its implementation, adding a subject matter that focuses on ethics and another which focusses on teaching thinking, accomplishing the subject matter of history, and establishing a unit for developing digital resources."
As far as the demands of CRDP employees are concerned, Mr. Nohra expressed to President Aoun a wish " to attend to the requests of CRDP employees by supporting the following files: the series of ranks and salaries that they have not received until today, the decree of temporary employees at CRDP, and the retirement law of CRDP’s staff."
