Ladies and Gentlemen,
We live in a time full of challenges, where Economy and labor market's needs are moving fast. CERD's vision is of a Lebanon where all Citizens, Learners, Educators, Parents and Community (LEPC) are equally empowered with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values within a lifelong learning approach to ensure the sustainable development of the different national sectors, while regarding the global communities' concerns.
CERD believes that Quality Education is aligned with the Humanistic vision and the learner's Holistic development in the different ecosystems.
CERD believes that Education is a key tool that supports development of Active Citizens and improves socio-economic and cultural opportunities for all, including learners at risk.
CERD believes that Education enhances Equity and reduces Inequalities, helps all people to lead Healthy lives and fosters Tolerance for more Peace in societies.
That is why, there is a dire need for a substantial change and a REVOLUTION in Education that requires Transformational approaches, practices and leadership.
Our Mission is to develop Responsible Active Citizens, well-prepared for global competitiveness, through:
- Leading a collaborative and dynamic national education strategy that feeds evidence-based policy making.
- Developing interactive inclusive curricula and extra-curricular activities that integrate 21st century skillsand healthy lifelong learning for Learners and Educators in positive and safe school ecosystems.
- Providing Sustainable Quality Educational Services to engage Learners, Educators, Parents and Community (LEPC) in order to achieve the intended educational goals, in regular and emergency situations.
Since 1997, and for many reasons, the national curriculum has not been reviewed as a whole. And after 22 years and towards education 2030, and in order to improve the quality of education in Lebanon, we are finally pursuing a general program of renovation, to redesign a national curriculum based on values. The first essential value to define is citizenship.
CERD intends to modernize the Lebanese curriculum learners' profile in order to develop competencies across 7 attributes: Committed, Initiator and Activist, Innovative, Inquirer, Researcher and Investigator, Reflective and Critical, Cooperative and Collaborative.
Dear friends,
In line with CERD's vision, The International School Award (ISA) is a “prestigious badge of honor” for schools that conveys global measurements to teaching and learning, and generates constructive flows in the wider community;
This accreditation's aim is to provide a structure for international partnerships and connecting classrooms through global learning in order to help young people develop knowledge, skills and qualities needed to prosper. This programme supports schools to share international collaboration and boosts the recognition for teachers, principals and their school, the reason why the teacher and the principle professional's development is crucial for a higher level of success of this program.
Today, we are meeting to celebrate 43 public and private schools that have been accredited the International School Award for the academic year 2018-2019.
On this occasion, I would like to congratulate them all and I justly value the continued efforts made for the success of this project by all the partners at the British Council, at the General Directorate at MEHE and at CERD.
Good Education is not only a ladder of opportunity, but also the foundation upon which we build our future; and together we can create a better world, we can make a change!
